How to wash a hoodie so it lasts

Brushed terry is durable and easy to ruin. Four habits keep a hoodie looking like the day it arrived.
Wash cold and inside out. Heat is what flattens brushed terry — the loops that make the inside soft are the first thing to go in a hot wash.
Skip the dryer. Dry flat, in shade. A tumble dryer will shrink the body faster than the ribbing, which is how hoodies end up boxy and short.
Wash it less than you think. Airing a hoodie overnight does most of what a wash does, without the wear.
And wash it with similar weights. Denim rivets and zips will pill the surface in a single cycle.
